Academic Policy

Long View High School has a tradition of high academic standards and expectations for its students.

Students are expected to strive to achieve to the highest level of their abilities in every class and complete all assignments required of them.

In order to maintain these high standards Long View has a system of academic interventions that will ensure that students are given an opportunity to improve their performance to remain in good standing.

  • If a student fails a class in a marking period, parents/guardians will be notified, and students will be enrolled into Long View Work Lab (a Tuesday afternoon work session 12 - 3 pm) as well as a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon Learning Strategies class (2:30 - 3:10 pm).

  • Students must pass all of their classes, including PE and field trips, during this time or they will be required to take a Leave of Absence from Long View for one quarter.  During a Leave of Absence, a student will attend only Work Lab on Tuesdays for the quarter.  They will not be scheduled for any classes. At Work Lab, they must attend every session and earn academic credit in order to return to Long View full-time.
