Field Trips

Field trips are an integral part of our program, an essential part of the learning process, and maybe the most fun thing we do.  We will visit museums, businesses, historic sites, parks, and schools and other places of interest.

Our Essential Learning Goals for all field trips are:

  1. To make classroom work more relevant by exposing students to the world around them and allowing them to explore many community resources.

  2. To increase students’ love of learning by engaging them in enjoyable learning experiences

  3. To expose students to employment opportunities in the subject area being studied.

  4. To increase higher level thinking skills by having students ask intelligent questions of experts.

  5. To build community

Transportation is provided on Activity Buses driven by teachers and staff members who are trained to provide a safe bus experience. Most of our field trips happen on Thursday afternoons, leaving after lunch at 12 pm and returning by 3 pm.  On Tuesday afternoons, in the colder months, we take students bowling. Some classes may take field trips on other days and at other times as opportunities present themselves.

Any time you would like to know where your student is going on a given day, you may ask your child, call the school, or check here Field Trips to access an updated list of daily trips.

If you have questions, please call Donna at 303-982-8523.

Students will not usually be allowed to access cell phones on field trips.  If there is an emergency and you need to get in touch with your child during a field trip, contact Donna in the office and she will reach us directly on our cell phones.
