Graduate Profiles

Jane TomaroJane Tomaro

Jane graduated from Long View in the millennial class of 2000, and from CU Boulder with a major in Communications in 2004.  She has a long history of working with the Marriott Corporation, which she started in high school.  She is currently a Senior Event Manager at the Denver Marriott City Center. As a Certified

Meeting Planner she facilitates entry level and leadership training for City Center, Denver West – near Long View, and the Courtyard DIA.  She is also a Subject Matter Expert for the hotel event systems.  She and her husband and three year old son live in Englewood, CO, where she is, in her words, “most importantly a mommy”.  She is a member of the Long View Advisory Board.  


Ryan Sparks

Ryan graduated from Long View in 2012.  Five years later he graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a triple major in Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems with a 3.97 GPA. He graduated in the top percentile of his class.  He works as an Advisory Associate at KPMG – one of the largest and most prestigious professional service/auditing firms in the world. In addition to pursuing a career in IT/finance, Ryan loves to write and is a prodigious reader. 


Shalene              Shalene Maestas-Zarate

Shalene graduated from Long View ’98, and is currently raising her 4 children with her husband David in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado.   
After briefly studying secondary education Adams State College she discovered that she had a deep interest in the holistic health field. She received a massage therapy certification and associates degree from the Colorado School of Healing Arts (’02 and ’06). 

She founded wellness center Resonance Center for BodyW
ork in Wheat Ridge (’08-’14) and continues to provide her bodywork as a small business owner at Embodiwork Studio for Integrative Massage in Golden (’14-present). 

Shalene has the unusual distinction of having met 9 Nobel Peace Prize laureates, including the Dalai Lama, because of Long View’s long time, close association with International Peace Jam. She was the only teenage representative from North America to attend the first international conference in on Robben Island Capetown, South Africa.  Her oldest son, Caeden, currently attends Long View.


Arthur         Arthur Buhrer


Arthur graduated from Long View in 1995.  He went on to Metro State where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Business with an emphasis in computer information systems, and a minor in Spanish, graduating with honors.   Arthur and his wife Cecelia live in Sequim, Washington, with their three children, where he is an owner/broker at Olympic Mortgages.  He is a member of Rotary International, is a licensed soccer coach, and loves spending time in the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.  His primary interest is in raising his kids.




Lacey and RandallLacey (Whitlatch) Schuckman and Randall Schuckman

Lacey and Randall both graduated in 2006 and got married the following year.  While at Long View, they both competed as amateurs in the burgeoning sport of Mixed Martial Arts.   After working in the family paint contracting business for a few years they decided to go pro.  Lacey (“The Ladie”) and Randall “The Green Machine”) compete in the MMA Strawweight Division (115 lbs) in both the cage and the ring and have achieved several milestones.  Lacey is currently a Ring of Fire champion and ranked 45th in her weight division in the world. Two time Golden Glove Boxing Champ Randall has also reached the championship level in Mixed Martial Arts, Spartan Combat League, and Thai boxing.  They are sponsored by a variety of local Colorado businesses.  They train constantly and are clearly in great physical shape as they pursue their dream.  Despite the violent nature of their vocation, outside the ring they are both kind and thoughtful individuals.



Matt Andersen  Matt Andersen
 

A few years after Matt's graduation in 2000 he enlisted in the Army as an M1 Abrams Armor Crewman. Matt was stationed in Germany and was deployed twice to Iraq, serving 12 months in Baqubah and 15 months in Ramadi.  Having been discharged honorably, he enrolled at Metro State University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and later a Master’s in Environmental Biology from Regis University.  He is currently employed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at National Jewish Health. Matt enjoys good political discussions and has a highly developed sense of humor.  He loves spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and clay pigeon shooting whenever he can.
